100MG DAILY
100mg Daily is a new collection created around the theme of medication, specifically antidepressants. I wanted to convey the idea of my experience taking antidepressants, and the hope of getting better, which does happen, yet I have also had times when they feel as if they’re not working at all, and sometimes even perpetuating the low moods. The pieces are designed to replicate the basic shape of a pill capsule, with directly opposing colours and transparency. Blue representing calm and serenity, whilst the manipulated black references bad states of depression, yet they are connected into one form to communicate that my mood often flows between the two whilst on medication.
ENTRAPMENT
Part of the UNEASE exhibition hosted at Manchester Craft and Design Centre
Entrapment is a collection of 5 blown glass objects, which is a direct development of the objects in the ‘Unease’ collection. Within this collection I explore the concept of mental illness trapping oneself in a cycle of negative patterns which often, in my experience, have very little rhyme or reason to them, yet seem inescapable. The original design of the blown black forms from ‘Unease’ are restricted and trapped by a thick trail of glass on the outer-surface, with varying colours to reference the severity of the individual situation.
SCENT BOTTLES
Commission for The Harris Museum, Preston, Lancashire.
This project was a commission for The Harris Museum in Preston, Lancashire, for their shop.
I created 10 scent bottles, 5 yellow with the image of a Lancashire rose sandblasted on the body of the bottle. The second half of the collection included a blue bottle with a simple stopper which included an image of the Preston city crest.
UNEASE
Unease is a collaboration project between myself and Musician, Con Daniels. This project explored my relationship with mental health. 5 blown glass objects were paired with 5 audio tracks. Each piece of audio had a different level of distortion which corresponded with the level of distortion on the surface of the glass. The manipulation on the glass is caused by external forces, which is similar to many experiences living with mental health as external forces have a massive impact on day to day life.

19HZ
Parts One & Two
19Hz is a collaborative project between myself and Con Daniels. This project was in two parts.
Part One consisted of 5 vessels, with varying levels of surface texture. The texture and colour gets more intense to a peak, then decreases; following the form of an anxiety attack. Each is paired with an audio track using a different frequency which refers to the stage of the sequence.
Part Two consisted of an installation of tactile objects, with the intention of the viewer experiencing a sense of unease upon touching. This was paired with an audio track that used 19hz as a frequency which is meant to affect the brain in a manner that is unpleasant.
EXPERIMENTAL
These are a variety of experimental works which were developed whilst working on 19Hz and Unease.

BALANCE
This project is a direct response to Unease. The calming blues are a parallel to the black used in Unease. The organic forms paired with the colour creates a sense of serenity.

REFLECT
This project was my first attempt of using glass to express mental health. The colours used are opposing, blue to represent moments of calm. Black to represent moments of insecurity.
FAITH
This project was my first collaboration with Con Daniels. It was a response to a piece of music composed by Daniels. Displayed as an installation at UCLan.
